MISSION & HISTORY

purbasha logo.jpg

Purbasha is dedicated to preserving, celebrating, and promoting the rich cultural and artistic heritage of Bengal.
A small dream of four energized founding members that began in 2010 with just 15 families has today manifested to an astounding 140+ families in 2026 in Atlanta, USA!

It began as a ‘ঘরোয়া’ type of puja/community get-together and today Purbasha takes immense pride in being at the forefront when it comes to giving back to the community such as: distributing food to the homeless for Sprinkling smiles, collecting canned goods during Thanksgiving in partnership with United Way and the ‘Donate a toy drive’ for CHOA (Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta.)  Purbasha aims to foster harmony and revive old-age traditions by hosting thoughtful cultural programs for the community.

We are a registered 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization, and our mission is to create a vibrant and inclusive platform where Bengalis and people that live in the USA, across generations can connect through music, dance, theater, and cultural traditions, while nurturing creativity and community spirit. We welcome new ideas and new people and together we drive corporate partnerships, community events and our annual magazine ‘Agomoni.’

We envision Purbasha as a unifying cultural home (home away from home) that honors our roots, inspires future generations, and fosters cultural understanding by sharing the timeless values and evolving expressions of Bengali culture with the wider world.

THEME SONG

Did you know, we have our very own Theme Song. Made by our incredibly talented members. We are pretty proud of it, do check it out.

CULTURAL EVENTS

The old adage “Baro Mashe Tero Parbon” (thirteen festivals in twelve months) isn't just a saying at Purbasha—it’s how we live. While our roots are in tradition, our heart is in the togetherness. From the rhythmic beats of the Dhak during Durga Puja to the sweetness of Poush Parbon, we celebrate every occasion as one large, extended family. When you’re with us, you aren’t just an attendee; you’re home.
